After trying to post pictures on my blog via our Mac, I'm going with PC all the way. This machine is crap and I HATE it. I wish our PC hadn't died last week!

For all you creative types who think Macs have got nothing on PCs, let me just say that my husband works for a newspaper and has for many years... they're all switching to PCs, even the graphic artists because they are more compatible with stuff and they are easier to use and less expensive.

My husband is a computer whiz and can fix/upgrade our PC when it freaks out, but you can't do that with a Mac, which he hates.

For some reason Mac users thing Mac vs PC is a holy war...in my experience Mac is prettier....but that's about it. I think PCs work just fine. And you cannot get everything on a mac these days, I choose to stick with my PC. But I might get an iphone for its fun and cuteness.

PC for me! My family had macs when I was growing up. But in high school I tried my first PC - way better!

People say that Macs are easier to use and intuitive and so easy for first time computer users. I disagree.

Plus, my husband is a computer guy -he's the IT Manager for a major resort- and he's PC. I lived in a dorm of computer nerds, I've really only dated computer people, my good friends in college all majored in a computer related fields....ask any of them, PC or bust!

It's an apples and oranges comparison (no pun intended on the apple bit), because PC is a platform that many different computer manufacturers use and have improved upon throughout the years, whereas Apple consistently refused to license its Mac platform to others and is therefore both the OS author and the hardware manufacturer. Incidentally, this was an idiotic decision on Apple's part as it nearly bankrupted the company during the tech boom and has resulted in Mac's miniscule market share--one so small that the viruswriters of the world don't even bother with it.

Point is, you have to compare Macs to Compaqs, HPs, Dells, etc., not the entire PC world at once. I'm a big fan of Dells and think their support and warranty are just as good as Applecare. Plus, they are so comparatively cheap that you can buy a new one 3X as often as a Mac. You can get a decent starter Dell desktop for the price of an iPhone.

I used to be a design geek and used Macs all the time in school, but that was back when hardly any software was cross-platform and all the good design software was only available for Macs. Nowadays you can get the exact same programs to run with the exact same features on a PC, so why not.

So I'm a PC girl. I will admit that Macs often look better and they have a savvier advertising campaign. But when I buy a computer, I like to know I'm paying for stuff in the computer, not quirky commercials with a Drew Barrymore throwaway.

I like how people think that if I would just use a Mac, if I only actually took the time to learn how to use a Mac, I'd be converted.

I know how to use a Mac. I have used Macs on and off for almost two decades. We OWN a Mac.

And guess what?

I STILL LOVE PCs.

My PCs don't crash because they were built right and I know how to operate them. We have three PCs to one Mac at our house.

They are much easier to use, hardly ever crash, are more versatile, and hardly ever get viruses. They ARE more decorative, which is particularly valuable if you live in a small space where you and your guests always have to look at it--but that's honestly at the bottom of my list.

We have lost several PCs since 2002, but I've had the same Mac hardrive that I keep updating since the year 2000. It only crashed/froze like twice until I got my first upgrade and never since, and has NEVER had a virus!

I understand that those schooled on PCs don't necessarily find the Mac easier to use, but it's a matter of having been brainwashed, and once you free yourself of the complicated PC ways, you see the light. Spoken by an authentic convert, people!

We have 2 PCs but after seeing your bro's MAC, I think I may want to convert when it's time for a new desk top. My decision has nothing to do with legitimate MAC v. PC issues....it has one cord! One beautiful cord and that is it! No web of cords! no ugly box! Just a screen and a mouse. Lovely!

I remember fighting with my cousins over which was better, mac/pc. This was when the Apple2E was in vogue. Anyway, since mac OSX I've been a hardcore apple fan. I love my 24" imac, my 15" powerbook, my ipods and my husband's iphone. I'm a loner in my family since everyone is PC to the core.
Anyway, macs are fabulous products. If anyone is considering mac/pc, go for a mac and GET APPLECARE. It'll be the best decision you've ever made.
OH, and I just sold my 4 year old 12" powerbook laptop for $350. Pc's don't hold their value for very long.

Growing up we had PCs at home but used Macs at school. When my parents bought me my own computer I begged for a Mac but got a PC instead. It was practically the death of me!

My husband always had used Macs at work so he was familiar with both though he wasn't a fan of the price, we still got a MacBook for our next computer and while it's been pretty sensitive I LOVE applecare & the genius bar.

Right now our little MacBook was sent out for a once and for all fixin' and I got my Christmas MacBook Pro a couple of weeks early :). I LOVE it!

If a Mac is like buying a car with its hood welded shut, it's like buying a PORSCHE with its hood welded shut, verses a vehicle that chugs to a stop every now and again on a busy thoroughfare. Owning a PC was not good for my marriage and gave me a potty mouth. I don't think I'd ever uttered the F-word in earnest until I had to deal with our last computer and its frequent plague, the aptly named "blue screen of death."

Since we bought a Mac, it has been smooth sailing, engine purring along at 90 MPH. And I haven't cursed at it or threatened to throw it out a window once. Bless my lovely, reliable Mac. I will never buy a PC again.

i know almost everything there is to know about PC and once i tried using a friend's mac and felt like i was blind in the desert. i could not get to my destination and fury instantly filled my brain.

i can work and fix and tweak a pc, i'm comfortable, and, like abbie, i don't need to be cool. nor does robby. we stand on a pretty united front with our decisions and opinions in marriage which is really nice. cuz he's totally awesome.

I own a mac book pro and my husband has a mac book. We have iphones and ipods and swear by itunes.

I think people who use PCs do so because they are used to it and don't want to invest the time to learn MACs, which is totally their right.

Right now Apple is the superior brand. But remember the 80s when MACs were everywhere, but then the 90s came when MACs sucked and PCs kicked ass? You never know... So as of 2008/09, we are a MAC family. But if MAC gets complacent and other companies start turning out better equipment, I would change.

I've always used a PC - my dad got into the computer business in 1976 - who knew back then. I used Mac in elementary school, but didn't care for them. I've heard lots of great things about them, but since I don't use their superior programs (photo, video etc.), I'll stick with my PC.

I've been lurking on your blog ever since you guest posted on Design Mom - so here I am making a comment. Definitely Mac! I had bad "computer karma" for so many years and then I got a Mac and my computer life has been heaven! My husband still has a PC (laptop) and says he hates my Mac - but I don't care! And I'm getting and iphone for Christmas!!!!
