HTT - You tell me!

I got nothing.

I just got back from some important early morning errands, it's heaving snow outside and my child just told me she's sad that I don't have any cute jeans like her. Seriously, sister.

So I'm going to use this opportunity to generate ideas for future Hot Topics. Dish out the dirt in your comments below.

And make 'em juicy.

It's not juicy, but I'd like to hear people's views on PC vs. Mac. We're trying to decide!

I'll give this some thought but for the time being just wanted to comment on the Miss' supposed "photoungenic"ness?? Excuse me? She's cuter than ever!

Love me some Miss Dub, and I can't wait for her to tell me how un-cute my jeans are! As for HTT ideas - to wash hair daily or not to wash hair daily... This is something I struggle with.

Oh, and how about - when was mtv cool and when did it lose its coolness? Bc for me, it's still cool, but I think I'm in the minority.

Ooooh, what about having girl friends vs guy friends. The great debate about which is better (bc I used to think guys were better, but as I age oh-so-gracefully, I like girls so much better - drama included).

And as comment #1 said, mac vs pc... I'm a mac girl all the way.

What to put in your Christmas cards/letters--to brag or not to brag?

The vaccine question certainly is a HT, but so much so your computer may burst into flames! But I understand it's pretty cold in Chicagoland so...

How 'bout flashing Christmas lights vs. constant? And what about yard ornaments? Are they fun or tacky? My husband and I debate over these every Dec.

"down there" hair: to shave or not?

PC vs. Mac is a good one.

birth control options: when you started and what you've tried. what's the best?

medicine cabinet necessities: what is too much and what is just enough. (i.e. 2 bottles of children's tylenol; 4 bottles of adult ibuprofen: is this too much or good to be prepared?)

a controversial book review.

if i think of any more, you better believe i'll be back.

ok... here's a few:

- splitting christmas... between family and in-laws, friends and family, friends and other friends. (is it just me, or am i the only one who's ended up in tears over this?)

- women. crazy or just misunderstood? (i vote crazy)

- is it kosher to have good friends of the opposite sex after you're married? (i've been surprised at times how hot this topic is)

- healthcare. what's the solution?

- instant messaging. is it ruining our communication or improving it?

- who does the cooking? and what dictates the answer? tradition or decision?

- forcing kids to eat food they hate. torture or just "what's best for them"?

ok, i'll stop there. and sorry it's snowing.

People have mostly put my ideas . . . I'm still waiting for the Brazilian waxing HTT you "almost" posted one time!

I pretty much ditto everything Janaya said.

Also, been thinking a lot about right to privacy vs. the ability to solve crimes, etc that comes from microchips and other digital gadgets.

And how about how much to spend on Christmas? How much is too much? What about the re-gift?

Also, blogs. I have a love hate relationship with mine, haven't updated for weeks.

Twitter - use it? love it? hate it?

Natural birth control (aka not using any, just timing it) - use it? love it? hate it?

House cleaner - to hire or not to hire? (this is for someday when i have money and lots of messy kids)

Hot Topics:

Blogging: Does it breed competitiveness and "keeping up the Joneses (or Dubs)? Or, what are the negatives and positives of blogging; Is it a positive movement, or just a way for people to put up a perfect front?

Family size. How many kids?

Plastic surgery/breast enhancements

Designer jeans

I agree about hair washing. I'm a 2 to 3 times a week girl, myself. I have really dry hair. Is that gross?

I was going to say what Carolyn said - what is acceptable to put in your Christmas letter? Or, how much do you hate the really braggy ones? What about bragging about your kids on your blog?

I also really like Janaya's idea about if it's taboo to have friends of the opposite sex when you're married.

Global warming.

On a less serious note, can I please get some advice on Christmas presents? Do I have to give gifts to karate teachers, little gym instructors, and preschool teachers? What? and how much should it cost? And what do I give my nanny?! coworkers? neighbors?

Sometimes being the adult is more trouble than it's worth.

How about telling other people how to raise their kids- okay to give advice or keep your now out?

That one will get me fired up!

I saw on another blog the topic of being friends with your exboyfriends and their wives. I would love to hear people's opinions on that. I think it was www.dizzlefig.blogspot.com that I saw it on. Basically she wanted to befriend an ex-boyfriends wife but wasn't sure if the wife would freak out.

Immunization is a hot topic for me. I live in NJ where it is mandated. Yes, the goverment gets to decide what goes into my child's body. Agh!! I am blatantantly ignoring the forms that were sent home from my daughter's preschool because my she has a form of Aspergers and there is is no way no how we are getting these immunizations. I think I am in for an uphill battle. sigh...

Mac vs PC - I'm a Mac girl

An uncute jeans comment in my house is a direct invitation for me to go shopping for new jeans! Can't be helped if someone says a comment like that. As for Hot Topics how about working moms.Is it better to be around all the time and taken for granted or is it better to work a bit (part-time) or work full-time.

Dear Mrs. Dub
I love reading your blog, you are witty and very entertaining. As far as the Htt goes I think an interesting one would be making a blog private vs keeping it open to everyone. Thanks!

How about kids potty policies? Like for boys, do you teach them to sit or stand? Should they use toilet paper when the pee? or shake it... And is it appropriate for them to pee outside? and until what age? And do you wipe for them when they go #2? and until they are how old? Lovely topic, but I'm just wondering...
